Job summary

iA Financial Group in Toronto is seeking a seasoned Underwriter to evaluate group insurance risks, support sales activities, and contribute to profitability. You will oversee quotations, renewal pricing, and modification requests, while guiding junior underwriters and collaborating with the Group Underwriting Manager.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years in group insurance underwriting, strong analytical and leadership skills, advanced French proficiency, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics/Actuarial Science/Finance or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of Group Insurance underwriting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced French proficiency required for quotes, renewals, and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of group insurance quotations, renewal pricing, and modification requests.
• Ensure proposals reflect administration and service capabilities and align with business objectives.
• Participate in renewal presentations with clients and advisors.
• Coach and mentor junior and intermediate underwriters.
• Collaborate with Group Underwriting Manager to support profitable growth and continuous improvement.

• Oversee the preparation of group insurance quotations, renewal pricing, and requests for modifications.
• Ensure financial agreements align with business objectives and that proposal wording accurately reflects our administration and service capabilities.
• Participate in renewal presentations with existing and prospective clients, as well as their advisors.
• Support the development of junior and intermediate underwriters through coaching and mentoring.
• Collaborate with the Group Underwriting Manager to ensure underwriting tools and approaches support profitable business growth while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The typical hiring range for this position is between 55 376$ and 115 376$ CAD per year; the base salary offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity related to the role.
