Job summary

iA Financial Group in Toronto is seeking a Senior Underwriter - LIFE with 8+ years in life underwriting. You will analyze complex life, health, and disability cases, negotiate terms with reinsurers, and mentor junior underwriters in a hybrid work setting.

You will collaborate with IT and business teams on a new automated underwriting system, leveraging your expertise to ensure profitable, client-focused decisions while upholding underwriting guidelines and high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Holds a bachelor’s degree or another relevant academic background.
• Has more than 8 years of experience in individual life insurance underwriting or a similar role.
• Is recognized for strong analytical and problem-solving skills in assessing medical and non-medical information.
• Demonstrates excellent negotiation skills, strong organizational abilities, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
• Has outstanding communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex life, health, and disability insurance cases using established underwriting guidelines.

The typical hiring range for this position is between $90,000 and $115,000 CAD per year, based on a 37.5-hour work week. The base salary offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, relevant experience, and internal equity related to the role.
