Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Underground Transmission Line Design Lead to mentor a multidisciplinary team and drive technical excellence in HV cable systems.

You will lead design, estimation, and reviews for underground transmission projects across North America, overseeing development, recruitment, and career growth while interfacing with clients and suppliers. A PE license and deep experience in high voltage cabling are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer license (PE/PEng) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a consulting, utility, developer, or EPC environment.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and line management for engineers on underground transmission projects; include coaching, evaluations, development planning, recruitment, onboarding, and training.
Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, design and review, estimation, and site supervision support as required.
Provide technical support to the team on HV cable system engineering and design.
Prepare power cable route specifications, technical specifications and reports, and progress reports.
Ensure correct interface with other engineering functions involved in projects.
Attend and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
