Job summary

Ontario Transit Group (OTG) seeks an experienced MSV Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair Multi-Service Vehicles supporting TBM operations on the Ontario Line South Civil package. This role is based in Toronto and involves underground tunnelling work with strict safety protocols.

You will work with tunnel crews, operators, and maintenance teams to ensure reliability, safety, and continuous transport cycles.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 3-4 year apprenticeship in industrial mechanic/millwrighting or 5+ years in industrial machinery repair.
• Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade certification (preferred).
• Additional mechanical or electrical certifications considered assets.
• Strong knowledge of MSV components and systems (power units, hydraulics, electrical systems).
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Familiarity with underground/tunnelling operations and confined-space work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair MSV mechanical systems, including engines, power units, steering systems, transmissions, and drivetrain components.
• Maintain and service hydraulic, pneumatic, compressed-air, and electrical systems in MSV equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, lubrication, adjustments and component replacements.
• Diagnose faults using mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical testing tools; interpret manuals.
• Support MSV operators with troubleshooting and equipment configuration.
• Document repairs and parts usage following maintenance protocols.
• Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections on MSVs for safety and performance.
• Ensure MSVs comply with tunnelling safety regulations and confined-space rules.
• Assist with MSV trailer coupling/uncoupling and setup during transport shifts.
• Coordinate with TBM logistics to ensure vehicle availability for continuous cycles.
• Follow OHSA tunnel safety procedures and air monitoring guidelines.
• Keep underground work areas clean and safe.
