Job summary

Komatsu Canada is seeking an Underground Field Service Technician (FIFO) to support Red Lake operations. This onsite role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of underground mining equipment on a 14x14 shift, with relocation assistance and comprehensive benefits.

You will engage with engineering and field teams, perform RCA analyses, and travel 100% as required. Strong safety focus and a valid 421A certification are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is required.
• Red Seal is an asset.
• Experience with underground mining equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Allowances: Additional premiums and allowances are associated with this position due to location
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required

Key Job Responsibilities

• Represent Komatsu and support U/G mining equipment through a rotational schedule
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair underground mining equipment
• Perform maintenance, service, and repair on multiple equipment at our client’s operations
• Commission new equipment, including pre-delivery inspections and on-site startup
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to resolve recurring issues
• Support customers with technical expertise and recommend improvements
• Complete detailed service reports and documentation
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams
• Mentor junior technicians and support customer teams
• Maintain a strong safety-first mindset in all work

Qualifications/Requirements

• Valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification required(Red Seal is an asset)
• Experience with underground mining equipment is considered an asset
• Solid understanding of mechanical and machine control systems, with the ability to apply it in the field
• Strong problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• No restrictions for accessing mine sites
• Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel and work overtime as required
