Job Description

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: Will train

Tasks

  1. Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  2. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  3. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  4. Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  5. Pay and receive payments for goods.
  6. Perform brake adjustments.
  7. Perform emergency roadside repairs.
  8. Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle.
  9. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  10. Tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo.
