Position Overview
ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Truck Driver to operate our trucks hauling scrap metal to and from different locations from our Kelowna, B.C. location. Occasionally, you may need to haul material to and from other ABC locations and partner companies.
This position has variable hours up to full-time hours based on the company's needs week-to-week. The successful candidate in this role will be comfortable with working hours that change from week to week.
The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record along with experience operating roll-off trucks, self-loading cranes such as hi-abs, and body jobs. The ability to complete daily logs and reports and carry out the instructions is also essential.
Responsibilities
- Performs pre/post-trip inspections of the vehicle assigned to drive.
- Communicates with customers in a professional manner.
- Carries out general safety practices of a commercial driver.
- Follows guidelines for safe load securement.
- Carries out instructions from Dispatch in a timely and professional manner.
- Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service-related issues to Manager or Dispatch.
- Positions and/or returns container on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids and or doors are properly replaced, and do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
- Additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Preference given to candidates with a valid Class 1 license with air brakes.
- Preferably 3-4 years’ experience.
- Experience with roll-offs, body jobs and dump trucks preferred.
- Experience with self-loading cranes or Hiab is a definite asset.
- The ability to operate a thumb & bucket to occasionally self load off site is a definite asset.
- Prior experience in scrap metal recycling or demolition would be beneficial.
