This individual will be instrumental in overseeing liquidity, optimizing financing structures, and managing financial risk across multiple currencies and jurisdictions. Role Overview
As a key member of the finance team, the Treasury Manager is responsible for maintaining strong banking relationships, ensuring liquidity across all operations, and supporting capital planning efforts. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders to build accurate cash forecasts, monitor financial exposures, and deliver actionable insights. This position also plays a key role in managing treasury systems, debt structures, and compliance-related functions.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day cash operations and liquidity needs across multiple currencies and international entities.
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasts, partnering with departments to project funding requirements and mitigate liquidity risk.
- Lead treasury process enhancements, ensuring systems and internal controls are optimized for scalability and efficiency.
- Oversee all banking activities including cash positioning, account management, reconciliations, and investment movements.
- Analyze variances between projected and actual cash activity and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Build and maintain debt schedules, monitor covenant compliance, and evaluate financing options to support corporate initiatives.
- Coordinate funding strategies and assess the financial viability of ongoing and future projects.
- Support the risk management framework, including interest rate and FX exposure analysis, and ensure appropriate hedging strategies are implemented when necessary.
- Provide oversight of corporate insurance policies, ensuring coverage aligns with risk exposures and operational needs.
- Partner with finance and accounting teams to ensure tax and treasury activities are appropriately reflected in financial statements.
- Oversee the accuracy of indirect tax (e.g., HST/GST) filings and liaise with government authorities as needed.
- Contribute to budgeting and planning cycles with treasury insights and scenario modeling.
- Assist in developing internal policies related to credit, treasury operations, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead the implementation of treasury systems or enhancements to drive automation and reduce manual touchpoints.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior executives and board committees, ensuring clarity and relevance of treasury-related metrics.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and compliance across all treasury activities.
- Collaborate with IT, HR, and payroll teams on matters impacting cash flow, funding cycles, or banking operations.
- Maintain professional standards through ongoing learning and engagement with relevant financial institutions and networks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- CPA, CFA, or similar designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing treasury operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems (SAP or equivalent is considered an asset).
- In-depth knowledge of treasury best practices, financial instruments, cash pooling, capital planning, and regulatory reporting.
