Purpose

The Director, Corporate Finance is an experienced investment professional who provides regional support for deal structuring, negotiating, pricing, coordinating risk analysis and presentation, and documentation on specialized credit transactions including large/highly structured senior loans and subordinated debt investments. The role involves supporting credit and sales coaching efforts through market visits and interaction with Relationship Managers.

Accountabilities
  1. Leads and promotes a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships.
  2. Provides advice and counsel to Relationship Managers during deal identification, including review of assessments, meetings, due diligence, negotiations, and documentation.
  3. Ensures knowledge transfer through coaching, training, and sharing best practices within the team.
  4. Collaborates with regional and district leadership to build Roynat’s brand via market visits, portfolio reviews, and industry events.
  5. Manages deal processes from preliminary approval through negotiations, due diligence, and documentation, including legal agreements and disbursement processes.
  6. Develops and manages staff performance, coaching, and training, fostering a high-performance environment.
  7. Considers risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities, ensuring operational and compliance controls are met.
  8. Builds a motivated, inclusive team aligned with the Bank’s values and strategic goals.
  9. Reports to the Director and National Lead, Corporate Finance, with potential supervision of Associate Directors.
  10. Engages in regional credit marketing and underwriting, supporting market-facing activities.
  11. Requires superior communication, financial analysis, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with willingness to travel within Canada.
  12. Work environment is office-based with moderate travel, located in Toronto or other major Canadian cities.
