Imagine Cities is seeking a Treasurer to oversee financial management and reporting for our nonprofit. The role ensures that proper financial records and controls are kept, and that budgets and financial statements are approved.

As a member of the senior management team, the Treasurer leads the Finance Committee, participates in strategic planning and budgeting, and supports our effort to become a registered charity.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma completed or enrolled in.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and volunteer supervision experience.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficient with Google Suite software.
  • Willingness to learn about the nonprofit sector.

Responsibilities

  • Budgeting and financial planning for the organization.
  • Accounting and preparation of financial statements.
  • Reporting and analysis of financial data.
  • Developing and monitoring financial policy.
  • Managing cash flow and risk management.
  • Annual reporting, tax filing, and remittances.
  • Support transition toward charity status, as needed.
  • Support senior management in strategic budgeting initiatives.

Position Summary

The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the management and reporting of non-profit finances. It’s the responsibility of the Treasurer to ensure the financial stability of the organization by ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained through the use of appropriate accounting procedures and controls.

The Treasurer is also responsible for the approval of all budgets, accounts and financial statements. The Treasurer is also responsible for creating the financial reserves policy and supports our effort to become a registered charity.

As a member of the senior management team, the Treasurer leads the Finance Committee, participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives. They work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization.
