Job summary

York Region District School Board seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to support students with communication difficulties across schools in the region. You will consult with teachers, parents and administrators to design individualized supports and implement IEPs.

You will provide workshops, coordinate with LHIN and hospital partners when needed, and help with transitions from early years programs to school settings. The role emphasizes collaboration and equity in service delivery.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) required.
• Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical and computer skills are required.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders including teachers, parents and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Consult with regular and special education teachers, Student Services staff and parents regarding speech and language programs and accommodations.
• Support the In‑School Team through consultation and resource development.
• Provide workshops to meet identified needs of staff.
• Liaise with community services and agencies as needed.
• Assist in interpreting medical information and assessment reports for individual students.
• Support development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Provide formal and informal assessment and observation of students with communication difficulties.
• Discuss assessment results and recommendations with staff and parents.
• Assist in transitions for preschool children moving to school programs.
• Collaborate with teachers to assess SEA funding needs.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by senior leadership.
