Job summary

Covenant House Vancouver is seeking a Sanctuary Youth Worker to help create a safe, low-barrier space for youth aged 16–24 dealing with complex substance use and mental health challenges.

You will respond to overdoses, provide ongoing overdose response training, and coordinate with adult services to support transitions for aging-out youth. The role emphasizes safety, connection, and youth-led care.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in social service or related field required.
• Frontline experience in low-barrier, harm reduction, youth-focused settings.
• First Aid, Naloxone administration, and crisis intervention training preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Welcome youth and respond to their needs with respect and practical support.
• Build trusting relationships and orient new youth to services.
• Provide daily presence and support around substance use and mental health.
• Respond to overdoses and follow safety protocols; engage in ongoing training.
• Document interactions while respecting youth privacy and safety.
