Job summary

Covenant House Vancouver is seeking a dedicated Sanctuary Youth Worker to support youth aged 16–24 in a trauma-informed, harm-reduction environment. You will provide compassionate, practical care and respond to overdoses and emergencies with trained protocols.

The role emphasizes building trusted relationships, offering daily support around substance use and mental health, and coordinating with community services to ensure safe transitions for youth aging out of the program.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in social services or related field is required.
• Training in First Aid, Naloxone, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is required (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience in frontline, low-barrier, harm-reduction, youth-focused settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome youth to the program with respect, care, and practical support.
• Build trusting relationships by engaging with youth on their terms and autonomy.
• Orient new youth to services without expectation of change.
• Provide daily presence and support around substance use, mental health, and life challenges.
• Respond to overdoses and medical emergencies following safety protocols.
• Document interactions and maintain records while protecting youth privacy.
