Covenant House Toronto is seeking 8 dedicated Youth Workers for the Resident Services & Winter Respite Department. This onsite, full-time role supports a 24/7 residential program, with day and evening shifts in both the Respite and Resident Services areas.

You will assess needs through a trauma-informed lens, develop plans with youth and Case Managers, facilitate life skills, and connect youth to community supports while documenting progress.

Competenze

• College or university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting using a trauma informed approach.
• Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• First Aid, CPR.
• Ability to identify, assess and intervene differentially with youth in crisis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Mansioni

• Ongoing assessment of youth needs from a trauma-informed lens.
• Develop plans addressing expressed needs with youth and Case Manager.
• Facilitate life skills and recreational activities.
• Meet with youth daily to offer support and assist with plan elements.
• Connect youth to community resources and supports.
• Complete intake interviews and assist with discharges.
• Manage routines, access to laundry and resources.
• Provide individual counseling and behavior management.
• Monitor meals and movement of youth through reception areas.
• Ensure safety and security of the environment.
• Assist during illness or crisis and contact emergency services as needed.
• Maintain caseload up to 10 youth.
• Attend Case Management Team meetings and other client meetings.
• Document progress and activities in case plans.
• Collaborate with departments and agencies involved in the plan.
• Update supervisors and colleagues on concerns or changes.
• Participate in program evaluation through outcome tools.
• Complete documentation for incidents, intakes and discharges.
• Log intakes, referrals, visitors and calls daily.
