Our Construction Management Team seeks a Transportation Technician III to serve as a lead inspector supervising transportation construction projects in North Carolina. Opportunities are statewide. This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classifications.

This role is available in multiple North Carolina locations, which can be discussed during an interview.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.
2. Supervise and maintain inspection staff throughout project construction.
3. Measure and track quantities of pay items.
4. Maintain records such as material certifications, testing reports, and daily diaries.
5. Communicate with the public, agencies, contractors, and other parties to address inquiries and resolve issues.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field, with five years of progressive technician experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience analyzing highway construction plans.
• Applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
• Understanding of DOT Standards, Specifications, and Roadway Drawings.
• NCDOT certifications (Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Density Testing) are preferred.
• Experience with local clients is a plus.

Working Conditions

Fieldwork involving outdoor hazards, heights, traffic, and rough terrain. Moderate physical activity required, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Night and weekend work may be necessary.
