We are currently hiring for a Transportation Supervisor in Kitchener. If you’re highly motivated and are ready for an exciting career that will shape the future of the foodservice industry, we want to hear from you.

Position Summary:

The Transportation Supervisor plays a key role by providing direct support to the Transportation Department and the Driver Team. They will function as a hands-on leader who will drive operational excellence within the Traffic Department at the Branch Level. This position requires a decisive and results-oriented leader who fully utilizes both technical skills and teamwork to influence and motivate change and meet the branch/departmental goals. The incumbent will support Flanagan’s Vision, Mission and Values in everything he/she does.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational supervision to a designated number of drivers within the satellite yards and the branch.
  • Visit yard locations and engage yard drivers on a monthly basis.
  • Drive departmental KPI’s and monitor scorecard accordingly.
  • Ensure quality standards and delivery schedules are maintained in a safe, professional and accurate manner with a focus on Ministry of Transportation regulations and compliance.
  • Schedule and assign drivers and equipment per Ministry of Transportation regulations to satisfy customer needs, while ensuring the equal distribution of workload to drivers and focusing on a reduction in overtime.
  • Review employee vacation requests to guarantee adequate coverage available prior to approval.
  • Comply with Ministry of Transportation regulations including but not limited to: Hours of Service; Compliance, Safety, Accountability; Roadside inspections; Pre/Post Trip inspections.
  • Ensure paperwork and documentation complies with Ministry of Transportation regulations.
  • Update and maintain electronic databases used for drivers’ logs, inventory, invoicing and routing.
  • Promptly solve problems to the maximum satisfaction of our customers while maintaining compliance with Ministry of Transportation regulation.
  • Promote a safe, fair and consistent work environment that engages employees and builds positive morale.
  • Coach and mentor employee group by performing evaluations monthly, ensuring every employee is engaged at least once annually.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A varied background in food distribution, transportation, logistics with minimum two years’ experience at a supervisory level preferred.
  • Valid AZ Commercial Driver’s License and Abstract considered an asset.
  • Proven experience with Ministry of Transportation regulations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Omnitracs, shaw and routing software Roadnet.
  • Proven track record of excellent supervisory skills; comfortable directing and motivating multiple employees while capitalizing on competencies.
  • High resistance to stress and pressure - ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing various personalities, needs of the business and customer requests.
  • Genuine interpersonal skills and strong ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Excellent planning, problem solving skills, analytical skills and investigation skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional prioritizing and organizational skills.
  • Proven success consistently demonstrating a high level of service excellence, integrity, dependability and professionalism at all times.
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Business preferred.
  • Willing to work additional hours with little or no notice to accommodate operational needs.
  • Adherence to all HACCP and Food Handling practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs on occasion.
  • Work in all types of weather/climate.
