Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is seeking a Transportation Safety and Compliance Advisor to train and ensure regulatory compliance for transport managers and drivers in the Greater Montreal area, Ottawa region and Abitibi. Shifts start early, around 6:00–6:30 a.m.

The role involves advising drivers on road safety, conducting inspections at multiple sites, and coordinating with fleet maintenance to monitor compliance with regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• You have a Class 1 FM license and knowledge of dangerous goods transportation.
• You have experience as a driver, inspector, trainer or in a related role.
• You have a strong understanding of SAAQ regulations and the Highway Safety Code.
• You have good knowledge of compliance standards related to vehicle dimensions and weight.
• You are bilingual in French and English.
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as the DCE system.

Responsibilities

• Acting as a trainer and advisor in road safety and regulatory compliance;
• Advising drivers on best practices in terms of road safety and compliance;
• Managing follow-ups with transport managers regarding logbooks and safety rounds to ensure compliance with road regulations;
• Collaborating with transport and fleet maintenance managers to monitor the PEP and transport equipment compliance;
• Visiting our various sites to inspect the quality and conformity of the work performed by our drivers;
• Performing road assessments, audits and training for new drivers as well as existing employees;
• Analyzing, documenting and following up on road accidents, infractions, complaints and near-misses related to transportation, and provide recommendations as needed.

Job Description
