Job summary

The City of Edmonton’s Development Services Branch is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join the Planning Coordination Unit. Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will review land development applications and TIAs to support the City Plan and transportation alignment.

You will develop infrastructure solutions, quantify impacts, prepare reports for committees and public inquiries, and liaise with city departments and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering; must be registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with APEGA (in good standing) and working towards a P.Eng designation.
• Experience preparing or evaluating land development applications from a transportation perspective (TIAs) and related planning documents.
• Knowledge of Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering, and applicable design/construction standards, bylaws, and legislation.

Responsibilities

• Develop transportation infrastructure solutions and quantify impacts to provide short- and long-term recommendations.
• Review TIAs for safety, transit, and design standards compliance.
• Prepare written documentation for committee reports, public inquiries, and technical recommendations.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to deliver customer service and engineering solutions.
• Review and recommend approval for concept plans, engineering drawings, and road/alleys closures.
• Draft and review amendments for transportation bylaws, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in public engagement activities, meetings, and other assigned duties.
