Job summary

The City of Edmonton invites applications for a Transportation Engineer in the Development Services Branch, Planning Coordination Unit. You will apply transportation engineering and planning expertise to review land development proposals, TIAs, and bylaw amendments, ensuring alignment with City Plan and multi-modal needs.

Reporting to a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, prepare technical advisements, and support complex decisions through sound

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible related engineering work experience
  • Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing and registered with APEGA; IPMA eligibility may be considered; registration prior to employment

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate transportation infrastructure impacts of land development proposals and advise on short- and long-term requirements
  • Review TIAs using transportation engineering knowledge, guidelines, and city bylaws
  • Support Senior Engineer on complex decisions with technical studies and public input considerations
  • Prepare written findings, advisements, and recommendations for council/committee
  • Collaborate with applicants and internal/external partners to develop engineering solutions and provide customer service
  • Review concept plans, preliminary drawings, access requests, and road/closure inquiries for approval
  • Liaise with City departments and external agencies for integrated planning
  • Prepare and review amendments to transportation bylaws and related policies
  • Perform periodic site checks to confirm development requirements
  • Participate in public engagement and team meetings
  • Perform other related duties as required
