Job summary

ColdFront is seeking a Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) Technician for our Saskatoon, SK shop. The role includes on-call mobile work to service and repair cooling systems on trailers for remote customers.

You will troubleshoot and repair reefer and A/C units, conduct preventative maintenance, and work with Carrier/Transicold reefers. Journeyman preferred with post-secondary trade education and a valid driver’s license are required.

Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) Technician

Location: Saskatoon, SK

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Status: Permanent Position

Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday

What is the Role?

The Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) Technician role is based out of our Saskatoon, SK Shop and reports directly to the General Manager. There will be an \"On-Call\" Mobile component to this role, as at times you will be required to work off site providing and performing technical tasks to aid in the assembly, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of cooling/heating systems, components and mechanical equipment to our remote customers.

Responsibilities Of This Position Include

• Transport Refrigeration (Reefer) Technician will maintain and repair trailer reefer (refrigerator) units


• Main duties will be to troubleshoot, diagnosis, and repair components on refrigeration units


• Conduct quality preventative maintenance responsibilities


• Ensure work is completed to standard


• Other shop related duties as assigned

Required Education, Skills And Qualifications

• Journeyman preferred


• Education/Training with a recognized Post-Secondary Trade Institution


• Work effectively as both a team player and an individual contributor


• Excellent communication skills; listening, written and oral


• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively


• Proficiency with all tools of the trade


• Previous experience with Reefer and A/C units (Carrier - Transicold reefers and APU’s, Webasto & Proheat heaters) in the transportation industry


• Previous experience working on refrigerated and heated trailers


• Technical aptitude


• Valid Driver's License
