Job summary

Eastern Transmission Experts is seeking a mechanically experienced Transmission R&R / Lift Technician to join our team at our Ville Saint-Laurent facility. The role focuses on removing and installing transmissions, differentials and transfer cases for domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.

We offer up to 35 CAD/hour based on experience, a 40-hour week, and a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends, plus training and room to grow within the company.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical ability and experience using a vehicle lift.
• Comfortable removing and reinstalling major mechanical components.
• Willingness to learn specialized transmission, differential, and transfer-case work.
• Own basic automotive tools and a valid driver’s license.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Remove and install automatic transmissions and CVTs.
• Remove and install differentials and transfer cases.
• Remove and reinstall related components required to complete R&R work.
• Work on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.
• Inspect vehicles for transmission, differential, transfer-case, and installation-related problems.
• Identify leaks, damaged components, and other concerns related to the assigned work.
• Use scan tools and technical information when required.
• Complete assigned work accurately and efficiently.
• Verify completed work through inspections, scanning, and road testing when required.
• Communicate with the service and parts teams when additional work or parts are needed.
• Assist other technicians and learn from experienced team members.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

About the Position

Eastern Transmission Experts is looking for a mechanically experienced Transmission R&R / Lift Technician to join our team.

Established in 1989, we are one of Canada’s largest transmission remanufacturing and repair shops—and the largest in Eastern Canada. Our Ville Saint-Laurent facility specializes exclusively in transmissions, differentials, and transfer cases for domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, including cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, and light-to-medium commercial vehicles.

This is not a general automotive repair position. The work will focus on removing and installing transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, and related components.

Previous transmission experience is an asset, but not required. We will consider an experienced general automotive technician who is comfortable working on a lift, has strong mechanical skills, and wants to learn specialized transmission R&R work.

• Bilingualism in French and English is an asset, but not a requirement
• Own basic automotive tools
• Valid driver’s licence
• Reliable, organized, and attentive to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
