The West Vancouver Transit Department seeks a Casual Transit Service Coordinator I to manage scheduling and ensure efficient transit services. The West Vancouver Transit Department is now accepting applications for a Casual Transit Service Coordinator I. Reporting to the Transit Service Coordinator II, this position is responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of drivers and buses to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of Transit services. Key responsibilities for this position include:
· ensuring that the organization is operating in accordance with the National Safety Code and Collective Agreement requirements;
· preparing and maintaining a variety of departmental running sheet and sign-up documents;
· receiving and responding to inquiries from customers, staff, other departments and emergency services via telephone and two-way radio;
· responding to payroll related inquiries and processing time cards; and,
· performing other related work as required.
The successful candidate will have:
· the ability to deliver exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and by email;
· the ability to understand and interpret departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
· the ability to maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external contacts;
· the ability to work varied shifts to meet the needs of the department;
· the ability to prepare and maintain a variety of departmental reports and records;
· proficiency with MS Word and Excel; and,
· skilled at troubleshooting complex logistical problems.
The preferred candidate is familiar with the North Shore and surrounding area, and possesses Grade 12 education supplemented by computer, and customer service courses or a combination of education and practical experience in a similar environment. Relevant experience in a public transit or charter bus dispatching or driving role would be considered an asset. A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required.
The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work:
Up to 25 hours per week. Hours and days of work may vary and will include weekends, evenings, and early mornings on a rotating basis.
Starting Rate of Pay:
$38.51 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
