Job summary

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is seeking two Design Engineers, Electrical and Traction Power, to join the Streetcar Overhead Engineering team. You will design electrical and traction power systems and support field operations, with a focus on reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates have a PE license, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and experience leading projects within a unionized environment. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) as a licensed Engineer.
• University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience leading projects and applying electrical engineering principles.
• Experience designing electrical/traction power systems and related equipment.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a unionized environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of switch gear, emergency power supplies, lighting, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design expertise for TTC electrical and traction power systems.
• Support field maintenance teams on a 24-hour basis.
• Produce detailed designs, contract specs and drawings.
• Coordinate with staff, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Prepare calculations and specifications for planned and emergency work.
• Assist in testing, commissioning and evaluating new systems.
