Job summary

Transdev Canada in Duncan, BC, is seeking Casual Transit Operators to safely transport passengers on public transit vehicles and deliver excellent customer service in a casual, unionized setting.

As a Transit Bus Operator, you will drive fixed routes, follow schedules, and maintain safety. You will assist riders, including those with accessibility needs, and perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections with professional conduct and clear Dispatch communication.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 2 BC Driver's Licence with Air Brake endorsement.
  • Minimum two years of driving experience.
  • Safe driving record with no recent serious violations or preventable accidents.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with passengers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with Duncan geography is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate transit buses on fixed routes following schedules and Dispatch instructions.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to passengers and assist with fares, directions, and inquiries.
  • Assist passengers with accessibility needs as required.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold company standards.
  • Communicate delays, route issues, and incidents with Dispatch promptly.
  • Complete required trip and incident reports accurately.

Transdev Canada is hiring Casual Transit Operators in Duncan.

As a Transit Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on public transit vehicles while providing a high level of customer service. This is a casual, unionized position based in Duncan, BC.

Your role
  • Safely operate transit buses on assigned fixed routes, following schedules, Dispatch instructions, company policies, and all applicable regulations.
  • Operate vehicles in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to passengers, including answering questions and assisting with fares, directions, and general inquiries.
  • Assist passengers with accessibility needs, including individuals using mobility devices, as required.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and operational.
  • Maintain a clean and professional vehicle interior and exterior.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with Dispatch regarding delays, route issues, mechanical concerns, incidents, and accidents.
  • Accurately complete required reports related to trips, passengers, incidents, and accidents.
  • Operate onboard systems and equipment, including fare boxes, destination signs, and other transit technology.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while upholding Transdev's standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and effective communication.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Your profile

  • Medical assessment, Drug and alcohol test, Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check, and Trainability evaluation.
  • Casual, unionized position based in Duncan, BC.
  • Various start and end times, Sunday through Saturday.
  • Flexible availability is required, including weekends and varying shift times.
