Job summary

Transdev Canada is seeking relief casual HandyDART Bus Drivers to join our Victoria team. You will provide safe, door-to-door transportation for individuals with disabilities, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity while assisting with boarding and mobility devices.

You must hold the appropriate driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and pass background checks. This unionized, part-time role offers a chance to make a real social impact through accessible mobility solutions.

Qualifications

  • Hold a class 1, 2 or 4 Unrestricted Driver's License OR a valid Class 4 Learner's License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Able to pass drug and alcohol testing and criminal background checks.
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer service, and enjoy interacting with the public.
  • Able to operate accessible transportation equipment and secure mobility devices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to make a real difference in the lives of customers you serve.
  • Prior experience in passenger transportation, especially with individuals with disabilities, is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and courteous door-to-door service to passengers driving our cutaway-style buses.
  • Assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and disembarking using appropriate on-board restraints for wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations, company Safety & Health regulations, and accessible transportation standards.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules, making stops at designated locations to ensure passengers' timely arrival at their destinations.
  • Provide a safe, respectful, and empathetic environment for passengers, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any defects or maintenance issues to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanour.

As a HandyDART Driver, you will provide essential transportation services for individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity. Your Role

Your Profile

  • Flexible schedule with two guaranteed days off each week.
  • HandyDART Bus Drivers must be available for at least 5 days a week.
