Job summary

Town of Oakville is seeking a Supervisor, Transit Services to oversee fixed route conventional, specialized and charter operations, supervise driving staff, and coordinate incident response and emergency resources for transit services.

You will plan unscheduled service, adjust scheduled service, and ensure the safety of staff, customers and assets while driving a seven-day operation and leading a team of drivers and support staff.

Qualifications

• Three-year college diploma or university degree in business administration or related field.
• Candidates with 4+ years of supervisory experience in transit operations may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Valid and unrestricted CZ Driver's License or ability to obtain one is required; obtain driving abstract prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and oversee up to 85 Oakville Transit Drivers and ensure service delivery to standards and regulations.
• Coordinate incident response and liaise with emergency resources as needed.
• Plan unscheduled service and adjust scheduled routes to maintain performance.
• Ensure safety and security of staff, customers, and assets per policies and legislation.
• Train, motivate, manage, and evaluate staff; schedule work and address performance issues.
• Handle driver assignments, hours, sick time, and overtime according to the collective agreement.
• Work across a seven-day operation, including backfill during absences and coordinating with control centre staff.
