Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Ontario College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO) in Transfusion Medicine.
• Hospital Transfusion Medicine Lab experience within the last two years is required.
• Proficiency in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Committed to hospital mission, values, and teamwork.
• Punctual with excellent attendance; reliable.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical functions in Transfusion Medicine as part of a team.
• Rotates work stations and follows directions from Operations Leader/Technical Specialist.
• Prioritizes workload and ensures timely completion of all tasks, including STATs.
• Identifies abnormalities in test results and seeks guidance when needed.
• Reports and documents unexpected or non-conforming events/incidents.
• Prepares, authorizes and interprets laboratory results.
• Responds to inquiries regarding specimen collection, results and interpretation.
• Maintains instruments through routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
