Job summary

Coquitlam School District invites applications for the position of Transcriber. The role involves providing Braille materials and instructional assistance to visually impaired students at multiple district locations under the guidance of teachers of the visually impaired and the Director of Learning Services.

Applicants must have Grade 12 and CNIB UEB Transcriber Certification or CNIB Certifications in Literary Braille Transcription, Braille Mathematics & Science with an UEB update from CNIB,

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and CNIB UEB Transcriber Certification or CNIB Certifications in Literary Braille Transcription, Braille Mathematics & Science with successful completion of UEB update course from CNIB.
• Keyboard/Typing speed at 40 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Provides Braille materials and instructional assistance to visually impaired students at various locations within the district.
• Works under the general direction of teachers of the visually impaired and reports to the Director of Learning Services.

Transcriber

As the third largest school district in the province we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. The school district has a population of 34,500 students with approximately 4,500 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.

The position of Transcriber, reporting to the Director of Learning Services/ designate and, under the general direction of the teachers of the visually impaired, provides Braille materials and instructional assistance to visually impaired students as required at various locations in the district.

Interested applicants must have Grade 12 and completion of CNIB UEB (Unified English Braille) Transcriber Certification or CNIB Certifications in Literary Braille Transcription, Braille Mathematics & Science with successful completion of UEB (Unified English Braille) update course from CNIB.

Keyboard/Typing speed at 40 wpm.
