Job description

THE ROLE

As a Training Design Specialist, Client Services, you'll be responsible for developing and designing new courses and curricula based on identified needs, editing and enhancing existing materials, and creating engaging learning experiences for the GroupHEALTH client services team. This is a hybrid role based in either Surrey, BC, or Barrie, ON.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Within 30 days

  • Gain a solid understanding of the organization's learning and development (L&D) processes.
  • Familiarize yourself with the tools and technologies used for instructional design, including authoring tools and LMS.
  • Start building relationships with the training team, subject matter experts (SMEs), and stakeholders.
  • Begin to understand GroupHEALTH and the function of the Client Services department.

Within 60 days

  • Independently complete assigned tasks within the instructional design process, including needs analysis, content creation, and development.
  • Apply existing training design expertise to company projects.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration skills by working effectively with SMEs and team members.

Within 6 Months

  • Manage assigned projects independently, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in training materials or processes.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues through mentoring or training.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Collaborate with the Director, Learning and Change, and other Training Specialists on training initiatives for the Client Services department.
  • Design soft skills workshops and job-specific training for virtual and in-person facilitation.
  • Support the Client Services Training team by acting as a subject matter expert on adult learning principles and instructional design practices.
  • Assist trainers with training on learning technologies.
  • Update training materials in collaboration with the Director, Change and Learning, and other team trainers as processes evolve.
  • Stay current on best practices in instructional design.
  • Write scripts for video and audio content.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop course content.
  • Handle project work as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Learning and Change Management.

THIS IS YOU

  • Knowledge of group benefits is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a classroom instructor.
  • Experience in instructional design.
  • Familiarity with programs like Camtasia and Articulate 360 (or similar).

YOUR COMPENSATION

The estimated pay range is $70,000-$80,000, influenced by skills, experience, and education. This range reflects base pay and does not include total rewards, benefits, or bonuses.
