Job summary

Capstan Hauling in Grande Prairie, Alberta is seeking a Trailer Operator to join its growing logistics team. The role requires operating hydraulic platform trailers and multi‑wheel hammock trailers, loading/unloading cargo, and maintaining safety and schedules.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of trailer experience, a valid Class 5 license with a clean abstract (CDL assets considered), and the willingness for potential long-haul trips and shift work.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Class 5 license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Commercial Driver’s License would be considered an asset.
  • 3–5 years operating hydraulic platform trailers and multi‑wheel hammock trailers.
  • Experience loading/offloading cargo with trailer hydraulic suspension systems.
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Availability for rotational shifts, including days and nights; long haul if required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and configure hydraulic platform trailers and multi‑wheel hammock trailers with steering dollies.
  • Operate Pilot Truck to escort oversize loads.
  • Conduct and record pre‑operational checks on equipment; report deficiencies.
  • Operate loading and unloading equipment as required.
  • Adhere to daily schedules set out by Dispatch and complete daily paperwork accurately.
  • Adhere to transportation regulations and local laws in effect in jurisdictions traveled.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck; access and navigate customer worksites.
  • Follow company and customer safety rules; communicate effectively.

CAPSTAN Hauling, a diversified, trucking company (a member of LAPRAIRIE Group of Companies) is recruiting for Trailer Operator to join its growing, logistics team in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate and configure hydraulic platform trailers and multi wheel hammock trailers with steering dollies.
  • Operate Pilot Truck to escort oversize loads.
  • Conduct and record pre-operational checks on equipment. Report all deficiencies to Dispatch, and Maintenance for follow up and repairs.
  • Operate loading and unloading equipment as required.
  • Adhere to daily schedules set out by Dispatch.
  • Complete and submit daily paperwork requirements accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to commercial transportation regulations and local laws in effect in jurisdictions we travel in.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck.
  • Ability to access and navigate customer work sites and adapt to daily changes to site scope of work.
  • Adhere to company and customer safety rules and requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required by Dispatch/Management.
Skills and Requirements:
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 license with a clean driver's abstract. (Commercial Driver's License would be considered and asset).
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years operating hydraulic platform trailers and multi wheel hammock trailers with steering dollies.
  • Must have experience loading/offloading cargo with the trailer hydraulic suspension system.
  • Availability to work rotational shifts, including days and nights.
  • Availability to work overtime as required.
  • Availability to be away from home for extended periods (long haul).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Ability to access and navigate customer work sites and adapt to daily changes to site scope of work.
  • Ability to cross international Borders (long haul loads into or out of the USA), would be considered an asset.
