Job description

CAPSTAN Hauling, a diversified trucking company (acquired by LAPRAIRIE Group of Companies), is recruiting full-time Boom Truck Drivers with lowbed and winch truck operating experience, who are local to the Lloydminster, Alberta area.

LaPrairie Group of Companies (LAPRAIRIE) is a family-owned group that provides full-service crane and rigging, heavy hauling, highway and bridge maintenance, civil construction, fleet maintenance, and industrial mineral mining and distribution services to customers across Western Canada and Northeastern USA.

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Operate a winch truck to winch load and unload equipment as required.
  2. Haul customer commodities with various multi-axle trailer configurations, including lowbed trucks.
  3. Operate a Boom Truck to hoist and transport commodities.
  4. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and complete daily inspection reports.
  5. Adhere to Hours of Service and Logbook Regulations.
  6. Adhere to daily schedules set out by Dispatch & Supervisors.
  7. Complete daily paperwork/reporting accurately and on time.
  8. Promote safety culture and adhere to HSE policies.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized truck.
  10. Report all equipment repairs and maintenance requests to the Shop lead and Dispatch.

Skills and Requirements:

  1. Must hold a valid Class 1 Driver’s License.
  2. Must be a certified Boom Truck Operator.
  3. 3-5 years on/off highway driving experience.
  4. Must have equipment hauling experience.
  5. Must have winch and lowbed truck operating experience.
  6. Must have experience pulling 32-to-48-wheel trailer configurations.
  7. Availability to work rotational shifts, including days and nights.
  8. Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  9. Solid communication skills and ability to work in a team setting and alone as required.
  10. Ability to navigate work sites and adapt to daily changes in scopes of work.
  11. Acceptable drivers abstract (5 years minimum).
