Job summary

Colas Canada Inc. seeks a Traffic Coordinator to assist with traffic design, modeling, and analysis for the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project.

You will help develop comprehensive solutions for roadway challenges and respond to changes in real-time. The role involves designing traffic accommodation plans, ensuring legal compliance, performing traffic impact analyses, and coordinating field surveyors and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, or similar field.
• Proficient computer skills: MS Office, SharePoint, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Excel, Bluebeam, Word. Aconex is an asset.
• Good knowledge of Alberta traffic signaling regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design Traffic Accommodation Plans and Strategies for construction usage.
• Ensure Traffic Plans adhere to traffic laws and guidelines (rail, RAC, Alberta Transportation, City of Edmonton).
• Conduct traffic impact analyses, support design, reports, traffic modeling, and construction documentation.
• Sequence major construction phases and monitor scheduling implications.
• Provide input to ensure designs move traffic efficiently while maintaining safety.
• Review Survey Drafters designs and oversee Field Surveyors during traffic control implementation.
• Coordinate traffic design resources
• Participate in client meetings, presentations and public workshops
• Maintain documentation per audit and control practices
• Evaluate inputs from City/stakeholders on Traffic Plans
• Inform stakeholders of changes, delays, or concerns with solutions
• Input on budget, schedule, fiscal, and quality aspects
• Submit purchase requests and supporting documentation
• Follow project Operating Notices format and process
• Ensure OH&S compliance
• Compile data and reporting on project cost variances or delays and lane closure reporting

The Traffic Coordinator assists with traffic design, modeling and analysis for the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project, using state-of-the-art traffic models and designs. The Traffic Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the development of comprehensive solutions for today’s roadway challenges and respond to in-process changes as they happen.

Main Responsibilities

• Plan and design Traffic Accommodation Plans and Strategies for construction usage
• Ensure Traffic Plans adhere to applicable traffic laws and guidelines, including rail, RAC, Alberta Transportation, and the City of Edmonton, on regulatory compliance requirements (interpretation of rules as written in legal codes) and rules matters such as changes to the existing documentation
• Conduct traffic impact analyses, assisting with the design, technical report writing, traffic modeling and the creation of construction documentation
• Sequence major construction phases and monitor the scheduling implications to the overall project
• Provide input to ensure that proposed designs and solutions serve to move the most traffic in an effective manner without jeopardizing safety
• Review Survey Drafters designs and oversee Field Surveyors during traffic control implementation ensuring construction work areas and traffic alignments are accurate and as per the plan
• Coordinate traffic design resources
• Participate in client meetings, presentations and public workshops
• Ensure that all documentation is current and adheres to audit and document control practices
• Evaluate input into Traffic Plans from the City and other stakeholders
• Ensure that all stakeholders are informed of any changes, delays, or concerns in a timely manner and offer solutions to mitigate impact
• Provide input on the budget, schedule, fiscal, and quality aspects of the project
• Submit purchase requests and supporting documentation
• Follow the project Operating Notices format and process
• Ensure compliance with local government OH&S regulations
• Compile data and reporting on project cost variances or delays and lane closure reporting

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, or similar field. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, SharePoint, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Excel, Bluebeam, and Word. Previous experience with Aconex is an asset.
• Good knowledge of Alberta traffic signaling regulations
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings
