Job summary

Onion Lake Cree Nation seeks a Cultural Support Worker to serve as a traditional liaison and advocate for members, ensuring protocols are followed and services are delivered promptly.

You will collaborate with Elders and CSPs, help clients access traditional ceremonies, monitor supplies, and prepare monthly reports for the Healing and Wellness Program Manager, while upholding ethical conduct and respectful engagement within the community.

Qualifications

  • Mentored by Traditional Elders in the field of Oskapewis.
  • Minimum 2 years as Oskapewis.
  • Knowledge of Onion Lake Cree Nation protocols and ceremonies.
  • Excellent communication/people skills.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a traditional liaison and advocate for individuals and families.
  • Respond to referrals for traditional programming and complete client contact recordings.
  • Engage with community Elders and CSPs when referrals are made.
  • Ensure access to traditional ceremonies as part of healing and wellness for clients.
  • Monitor and order traditional supplies provided to individuals and families.
  • Maintain relationships with partnering agencies, schools, programs, and services.
  • Ensure the highest quality of traditional services for the community.
  • Prepare monthly reports and documentation requested by the Healing and Wellness Program Manager.
  • Ensure ceremonies for clients are ready and attended; participate in family circles.
  • Provide presentations on traditional teachings following Onion Lake Cree Nation protocols.
