Reporting to the Mental Health & Addictions Manager and Indian Residential School Project Manager, the Community Liaison serves as a bridge between community and Mental Health and Addictions services.
The Liaison provides guidance, support, education, advocacy and coordination of opportunities for individuals, families, youth, Elders and community members. Working collaboratively with the Mental Health and Addictions team, the successful candidate helps ensure culture is incorporated into all aspects of wellness programming while promoting healing through Indigenous ways of knowing. Must have demonstrated understanding of: Intergenerational Trauma, Residential School Impacts, Sixties Scoop, Colonization, Historical Trauma and Family Wellness. Understanding of Indigenous approaches to Mental Health and Addictions recovery. Ability to build trusting relationships with clients experiencing trauma, grief, addiction or mental health challenges. Strong facilitation and communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience planning community events and cultural programming. Respect for confidentiality and ethical practice.
