Job summary

This hands-on role sits at the center of the trade lifecycle, ensuring trades are booked, settled, and reconciled across equities, fixed income, and derivatives.

The role collaborates with portfolio managers, traders, brokers, and custodians, offering exposure across asset classes and opportunities to contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in trade operations, securities settlement or investment operations.
• Strong settlement knowledge across equities, fixed income and derivatives.
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills; Bloomberg experience is an asset.
• Clear, professional communication with internal teams and external counterparties.

Responsibilities

• Book, process and settle trades across equities, fixed income and derivatives.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and traders to confirm trade details and allocations.
• Coordinate settlement instructions with brokers, custodians and trust companies.
• Investigate and resolve trade breaks and discrepancies.

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established client in the Vancouver area, in the investment management space, for a Trade Operations Specialist to join their Operations team.

This is a hands‑on role at the centre of the trade lifecycle, making sure every transaction is booked, settled and reconciled accurately and on time. You will work across several asset classes and with both internal and external partners, so the role offers broader exposure than a typical single-function operations seat. The role is hybrid, with 3 days a week in the office after an initial in‑office onboarding period.

Key Responsibilities

• Book, process and settle trades across equities, fixed income and derivatives
• Work with portfolio managers and traders after execution to confirm trade details and allocations
• Coordinate settlement instructions with brokers, custodians and trust companies so transactions land in the correct accounts
• Investigate and resolve trade breaks, failed settlements and other discrepancies
• Complete daily reconciliations and support the team’s operational controls
• Maintain security master data, including pricing, dividends, corporate actions, interest, MBS paydowns, futures and FX rates
• Keep operational records accurate, complete and well organized
• Contribute ideas and support for process improvement projects

What You Bring

• 3-5 years of experience in trade operations, securities settlement or investment operations
• Working knowledge of settlement processes for equities, fixed income and derivatives
• A sharp eye for detail and comfort working with high volumes of numbers where accuracy is critical
• Strong Excel skills; Bloomberg experience is an asset
• Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is an asset
• Clear, professional communication with internal teams and outside counterparties
• Strong organization and a proactive, problem‑solving approach
