We areseeking an Electrician to join our team of professionals in our CommunityServices Department at the Facilities Division. Delivering professional andcustomer-focused services, our ideal candidate will provide their knowledge andskillset in support of our strategic and business plan priorities. As the Cityhas over 120 facilities to maintain, a fast paced, challenging and positiveenvironment will meet the successful incumbent.
This isskilled work at the journeyman level involving the inspection, maintenance andrepair of electrical systems in various municipal buildings.An incumbent carries out a variety ofmaintenance tasks, identifies malfunctions and repair requirements,troubleshoots equipment, performs repair work, and identifies the need for moreextensive repairs. An incumbent also coordinates and monitors repairs performedby contractors and develops and coordinates preventive maintenanceprograms.Work is performed undergeneral supervision.Major repairs andsystem changes are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance forquality and conformance with established standards.
Thesuccessful candidate will have their completion of Grade 10 and technicalcourses related to the work, and completion of a recognized apprenticeship asan electrician, plus considerable related experience; or an equivalentcombination of training and experience.Additionally, they will have their BC Certificate of Qualification(Electrician) and a Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia (withsatisfactory driving record).
T this CUPE position has an hourly rate of $48.50. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factorsincluding qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
