Job summary

MBM Intellectual Property Law in Canada is seeking a registered Canadian Trademark Agent to join our trademark practice. You will work directly with innovative clients, manage meaningful trademark portfolios, and help shape brand protection strategies across Canada and internationally.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, strong knowledge of CIPO procedures, excellent communication, and a collaborative, business-minded approach.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Canadian Trademark Agent in good standing.
• 5+ years of trademark prosecution and portfolio management experience.
• Strong knowledge of CIPO practices, procedures, and prosecution strategy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, translating issues into practical advice.
• Strong organization and deadlines management.
• Collaborative, service-minded approach and sound business judgment.
• Experience with U.S. or foreign trademark matters is an asset.
• Bilingual in English and French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, prosecute, and manage Canadian trademark applications before CIPO.
• Advise clients on clearance, filing, prosecution, portfolio management, renewals, and protection strategies.
• Draft clear, persuasive responses to Examiner’s Reports and communicate recommendations.
• Coordinate with clients, foreign associates, and agents on trademark matters.
• Support opposition, expungement, and contentious matters with senior agents and lawyers.
• Manage deadlines, maintain accurate portfolio records, and ensure exceptional client service.
• Build strong client relationships by providing practical, business-minded advice.
• Contribute to mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.

What You Bring

• Post-secondaryeducation; a legal degree or equivalent qualification is an asset.

Compensation and Hiring Transparency

Compensationwill be competitive and aligned with the successful candidate’s experience,qualifications, and scope of responsibility. Salary range $90,000 to $110,000.
