MBM is seeking a Senior Trademark Paralegal to join our Ottawa team. You will prepare Canadian trademark applications, review examiner responses, and manage deadlines with precision and clear client communication.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of trademark experience, postsecondary education, and progress toward a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent license. We offer a competitive salary ($60,000–$70,000), extended benefits, and a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a trademark clerk, paralegal, or searcher.
• Postsecondary education is required.
• Progress toward a Class 3 license as a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent in Training is an asset.
• Exceptional attention to detail is required.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingualism in French and English is an asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file Canadian trademark applications.
• Review correspondence from CIPO and foreign associates and prepare reporting letters to clients.
• Conduct trademark searches using the Canadian trademark database and common law sources; draft related search reports.
• Draft and report on responses to Examiner’s Reports from CIPO.
• Maintain, organize, and update docketing records and deadlines.
• Support senior agents and lawyers with Canadian and foreign opposition and expungement proceedings.
• Assist with file management, electronic filing/spiking, pre-bills, and precedent maintenance.
• Contribute to other trademark and administrative tasks as needed.

What You Will Bring

Thestarting salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000, withcompensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and demonstratedexpertise in trademark practice. In addition to salary, employees are supportedthrough ongoing learning opportunities, mentorship, and opportunities forcareer development within the firm.
