Job summary

Astro Towing is seeking a skilled Tractor Trailer Operator to join our team in Saskatoon. You will operate a company vehicle to transport vehicles and equipment to and from customer sites, ensuring load security and professional service.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, documentation, and communicating with dispatch. The role requires a Saskatchewan Class 1A license, a clean driving record, and physical ability to perform duties including lifting and climbing.

Qualifications

  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 1A drivers license with a clean driving record and at least 2 years experience.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with sliding axle trailers is an asset.
  • Professional appearance and strong work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, climbing and kneeling.

  • Assess vehicles and equipment before service; document condition as required.
  • Communicate with dispatch through the towing application to manage status and availability.
  • Complete pre-trip inspections and required paperwork.
  • Provide professional, courteous service in all interactions.
  • Maintain the truck and equipment, including routine cleaning and upkeep.
  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and laws/regulations.
  • Report equipment issues or concerns promptly.
  • Remain prepared and available for scheduled shifts and on-call duties.
  • Participate in training, safety meetings, and ongoing certification as required.
  • Assist around the yard or compound when needed.

Job description

We're looking for a skilled and customer-focused Tractor Trailer Operator to join our team at Astro Towing.

About the Role

Safety, reliability, and community support are at the core of everything we do. As a Tractor Trailer Operator, you'll operate a company vehicle to transport a wide range of vehicles and equipment to and from customer sites, while delivering professional and reliable service. You'll assess each job and determine the safest and most efficient way to load, secure, and transport vehicles or equipment. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to stay calm and professional in high-pressure situations. This position primarily works Monday to Friday, with participation in a rotational on-call schedule that includes evenings, overnights, and weekends as required.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Operate a tractor trailer unit to safely transport and load/unload vehicles and equipment
  • Assess vehicles and equipment before service, documenting condition as required
  • Communicate with dispatch through the towing application to manage status and availability
  • Complete pre-trip inspections, required paperwork, and customer documentation
  • Provide professional, courteous service in all interactions
  • Maintain your truck and equipment, including routine cleaning, inspections, and basic upkeep
  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Report any equipment issues, damage, or operational concerns promptly
  • Remain prepared and available for scheduled shifts and on-call duties
  • Participate in training, safety meetings, and ongoing certification as required
  • Assisting around the yard or compound when needed
What We're Looking For
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 1A driver's license, and a minimum of two years' experience with a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with sliding axle trailers and their hauling capabilities would be considered an asset
  • Friendly, professional attitude with strong customer service skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in vehicles and equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure
  • Comfortable using smartphone or web-based applications
  • Professional appearance and strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, climbing, and kneeling
