Job summary

The Salvation Army in Halifax, NS is seeking a temporary full-time Toy Drive Supervisor to support the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season. The role oversees the Toy Drive program, coordinates toy pickups and deliveries, and manages donor and participant communications.

Work hours are 8:30-4:00 Monday to Friday, through December 31, 2026. A Grade 12 certificate and strong teamwork skills are required, along with a commitment to confidentiality and serving the community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee distribution and pickup of Toy Drive packages.
• Field calls and inquiries about the Toy Drive Program.
• Contact past participants about participation.
• Take orders for Toy Drive Packages and arrange delivery.
• Follow up leads for new program participants.
• Prepare booklets for Toy Drive Participants.
• Coordinate with the Toy Warehouse Supervisor for toy deliveries.
• Assist in the toy room and with packing/inventory as needed.
• Send acknowledgements to participants and volunteers.

Job Description

Position Purpose summary: The Christmas Toy Drive Supervisor provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis. The purpose of this position is to oversee the Toy Drive for The Salvation Army Christmas Program in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Key Accountabilities

• Arrange distribution of Toy Drive program
• Arrange pick-up of toys and donations
• Field all calls and inquires about the Toy Drive Program
• Contact past participants to discuss their willingness to participate again
• Take orders for Toy Drive Packages and arrange for delivery at the specific time
• Follow up leads for new program participants
• Prepare booklets for Toy Drive Participants
• Work closely with the Toy Warehouse Supervisor to arrange for the delivery of toys to the warehouse
• Assist in the toy room as needed
• Record and summit all cash donations and forward to the Director for recording and deposit
• Other duties related to the program that may become apparent on demand and circumstances
• Assist when possible with the packing and inventory of remaining toys
• Send acknowledgements to all program participants and Volunteers

Working Conditions

This is a temporary full time position ending December 31, 2026

Hours of Work

8:30-4PM (M-F), with a 30 minute unpaid lunch Flexibility required

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Must have a grade 12 certificate
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Proven written and oral communication skills

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.00 to $18.08 with a maximum of $21.69. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
