Clio in Toronto is seeking a Development Manager to lead a product-centric engineering team within a triad (Designer + Product + DM). You’ll be hands-on—coding, reviewing, and shaping technical solutions—while coaching engineers and building a safe, high-performing team culture.

You’ll craft roadmaps, participate in hiring, review code, and mentor for career growth in a fast-paced SaaS environment. This hybrid role requires in-office presence in Toronto twice weekly on Anchor Days.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in people leadership in software development, particularly with large scale SaaS products.
• A strong background in hands-on software development.
• Experience hiring, coaching, and retaining engineering talent in a fast-paced market.
• Ability to articulate project successes and lessons learned.
• Strong bias for delivering honest, actionable feedback to the team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with your triad to understand business challenges and craft a team roadmap.
• Designing technical solutions with the team.
• Providing code reviews and architectural feedback to support technical decisions.
• Actively contributing as a contributor through code reviews or shipping code.
• Conducting 1:1s to support career growth and development goals.
• Participating in hiring to grow the engineering team.
