Position Details

Position: Full-Time (Temp) Traffic Guard

Site: Toronto Pearson Airport

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Employment Standards Act (ESA)

Hours: Continental Nights (2300 - 0700)

Payrate: $19.30/hr

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide vehicular and pedestrian traffic direction and control on the groundside area of the Airport by facilitating the movement of vehicular traffic
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Direct or control movement of vehicles at specific locations
  • Comfortable working independently and working outside in all weather conditions
  • Direct commercial and public vehicles along their respective traffic lanes
  • Ensure the safe, orderly and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the Airport's terminal curbs and roadway surfaces
  • Institute regular patrols at various times each day in these areas and others, direct both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and provide the public with relevant information concerning vehicle parking, stopping, and the loading and unloading of vehicles in a courteous and consistent manner
  • Ensure the separation of vehicles and pedestrians by controlling crosswalks, lane separations, areas designated by the GTAA from time to time
  • Enforce the TLSARs (Traffic on Land Side of Airports Regulations) as amended, supplemented or replaced from time to time
  • Issue Parking Infraction Notices (PINs) in accordance with established training procedures; PINs are intended as a final measure after other communication methods have been exhausted
  • Attend court for the purpose of giving evidence on PINs issued
  • Anticipate and address areas of vehicular or pedestrian congestion and work to relieve congestion and ensure safe, secure, orderly and efficient movement
  • Respond to Charter Bus call-up requests and consult with other supported roles for placement of bus and tour groups
  • Assist passengers with boost requests by calling Tow Trucks
  • Maintain work areas clear of obstacles including baggage carts to ensure a safe environment
Prerequisites
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • English (oral and written) fluency
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
  • Previous Customer Service Experience required
  • Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin\'s UoF/MOAB certification program prior to onboarding training
  • UoF/MOAB Certification is a pre-requisite; it is not paid, but Paladin will cover all training costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
