Job summary

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Torch Cutter to join our team based in Prince George, B.C., with potential offsite work and occasional travel to other yards. The role focuses on sizing oversized scrap metal using oxy/propane torches, with training available for the plasma/oxy torch if needed.

A strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential. The ideal candidate will have experience with torch/plasma cutting or related handling equipment and a safety-first mindset to protect personnel

Qualifications

• Experience using burners or as a labourer.
• Good interpersonal skills and safety awareness.
• Physically demanding role requiring dexterity.
• Experience with bobcat, forklift, or torch/plasma cutter is an asset.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and adapt to shifts.

Responsibilities

• Safely layouts scrap in operating area.
• Sets up and maintain oxy acetylene/ propane torches.
• Cuts large or too thick pieces of metal into customer specifications.
• Ensures fire prevention and follow safety guidelines.
• Communicates with fellow workers in a professional manner.

Position Overview

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Torch Cutter to be based out of our Prince George, B.C. location, but may require working offsite projects and occasional travel to other ABC Recycling yards. The job holder is responsible for cutting over-sized pieces of scrap metal to marketable size using oxy/propane fueled cutting torches. Typically, these large pieces are too thick or too large to be processed effectively with mobile or stationary shears. The ideal candidate will have experience using a plasma/oxy torch; however, we are willing to train the right person for this position. Most of all a good work ethic and a willingness to learn are the keys to success in this role.

• Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel occasionally.
