Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Ontario, Canada seeks a skilled tool and die maker to build and maintain dies, lead tooling improvements, and manage spare parts inventory on a night shift within a dynamic automotive environment.

Requirements include a valid Ontario tool & die maker certificate or European equivalent, 7+ years in fineblanking and transfer dies, GD&T, metrology, blueprint reading, and basic CNC programming. Strong documentation, English communication, and WHMIS training are essential.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario tool & die maker certificate with proof of valid apprenticeship or master tool and die certificate or equivalent European apprenticeship and tool and die “meisterbrief”
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in fineblanking of performed parts, advanced transfer dies and deep draw
  • Grade 12 education & college apprenticeship program or equivalent European education
  • Capable of full construction of new tools; excellent independent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of gd&t level 1, spc level 2, metrology, blueprint reading & basic cnc lathe/machining programming
  • Able to work independently, excellent documentation skills
  • Strong English language communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Knowledge of acad
  • Certified crane operator; trained in WHMIS & lockout/tagout

  • Develops new dies; advanced trouble-shooting and problem-solving solution skills; makes changes to meet or exceed quoted rates and improve product capability

Primary Function
  • Build and maintain tools as defined by toolroom manager

  • Able to work independently, excellent documentation skills
