The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of tools used in the steel blanking process. This role requires hands-on expertise in machining, tool assembly, and ensuring tooling meets all production, quality, and safety standards. The Tool and Die Maker will collaborate closely with the engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling performs at optimal levels and minimizes downtime.

Accountabilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble tools, dies, and fixtures for steel blanking and stamping operations.
  • Perform precision machining operations using manual equipment, such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure tools are manufactured to specification.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on tooling to extend tool life and reduce production interruptions.
  • Inspect and test tools to ensure they meet operational requirements and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair tooling issues, including making modifications to improve tool performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool repairs, and maintenance work performed.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide input for new tooling designs or modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during all tooling operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for tooling design enhancements or cost reductions.
  • Operation of overhead crane.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment, preferably in steel blanking or metal stamping.
  • Proficiency in operating manual machines (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders).
  • Experience with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine shop tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with steel blanking, metal stamping, and die-making processes.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, tool materials, and their properties.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce precise, high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
