Job description

Job Overview

A Caster is responsible for preparing molds for concrete casting. This includes waxing molds with resin, applying fiberglass, and ensuring a smooth application for concrete pouring.

A Day In The Life
  1. Prepare and wax metal molds and cores on a raised platform.
  2. Apply and form fiberglass inside molds using hands and large scissors.
  3. Operate an overhead hoist to position and secure the "hat" over the mold.
  4. Mix and pour concrete into molds, ensuring even distribution and smoothness.
  5. Use a vibrator to remove air pockets and finish the concrete surface.
  6. Unhook and clean molds post-casting, and prepare for the next batch.
  7. Manage tools and equipment for casting and finishing processes.

Environmental Conditions: Exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures, and moving machinery.

Equipment/Tools Used: Protective eyewear, earplugs, various scrapers, hand tools, pneumatic air drill, rubber mallet, gloves, plastic apron, spray paint, measuring devices, etc.
