Job summary

Strategic Natural Resource Consultants Inc. is a BC-based, First Nations majority owned consultancy delivering timber management expertise. We are seeking a Timber Cruiser to collect accurate data for projects and client deliverables in outdoor, camp-based settings.

Responsibilities include collaborating with resource professionals, mentoring new cruisers, and maintaining high safety and work standards while adapting to camp shifts in coastal environments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of BC Timber Cruiser experience; ATC designation preferred.
  • Coastal/old-growth cruising experience preferred.
  • High level of physical fitness and mental tenacity.
  • Proficient with cruising software (Compmate, Cruisemate, Cruise Comp) and related equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; valid BC Class 5 driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct timber cruising activities in outdoor and camp-based settings to provide data for project and client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with resource professionals to support Natural Resource Management projects.
  • Mentor/train new cruisers and compassmen.
  • Uphold effective communication and a strong work ethic essential to the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct timber cruising activities in outdoor and camp-based settings to provide accurate data for project and client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with our resource professionals to ensure the success of Natural Resource Management projects.
  • Mentor / Train new cruisers and compassmen.
  • Uphold effective communication and a strong work ethic, essential to the role's success.
Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience as a BC Timber Cruiser; preference will be given to candidates with an ATC designation.
  • Experienced coastal cruising with old-growth cruising experience necessary.
  • High level of physical fitness and mental tenacity.
  • Sound working knowledge of computers, cruising-related software, such as Compmate, Cruisemate and Cruise Comp, and equipment.
  • Proficient navigation and map-reading skills.
  • Flexibility towards camp shifts.
  • Experience working around trucks, boats, helicopters, float planes, and ATVs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
Assets
  • Experience completing Waste and residue surveys
  • Possessing a BC Scalers License
  • Registration as an RPF, RFT, FIT, or TFT
  • Experience in Timber Valuation

The hourly compensation for this position ranges from $30.00 - $38.00
