Job summary

Strategic, one of British Columbia’s leading natural resource consultants, seeks timber cruisers for field data collection and project support. The role emphasizes field-based work, coordination with resource professionals, and mentoring newer crew members in camp settings.

Applicants should have substantial BC Timber Cruiser experience, strong fitness, and proficiency with cruising software. Valid driver’s license and flexibility for camp shifts are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of BC Timber Cruiser experience; ATC designation preferred.
  • Coastal cruising with old-growth experience is highly valued.
  • High level of physical fitness and mental tenacity.
  • Strong computer and cruising software skills, including Compmate, Cruisemate and Cruise Comp.
  • Proficient navigation and map-reading abilities.
  • Flexible camp shift availability.
  • Experience around trucks, boats, helicopters, float planes, and ATVs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct timber cruising activities outdoors to provide data for deliverables.
  • Collaborate with resource professionals on Natural Resource projects.
  • Mentor/train new cruisers and compassmen.
  • Maintain clear communication and strong work ethic.
