Job summary

General Motors Canada seeks a Technical Expert to advance next-generation virtual vehicle thermal systems. You will build fast-running, physics-based models and tie them to controls, sensor data, and AI-enabled workflows across BEV, PHEV, ICE, and HEV architectures.

The role offers l eadership opportunities in vehicle thermal systems and model-based engineering, with hybrid work and collaboration across Markham or Oshawa teams.

Qualifications

• PhD completed within the past five years from a Canadian university in a relevant engineering field.
• Strong background in thermal-fluid sciences, dynamic systems, controls or related areas.
• Experience building physics-based, reduced-order, fast-running models or control-oriented models.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++, or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate fast-running models of complete vehicle thermal systems across BEV, PHEV, ICE, and HEV.
• Translate detailed analyses into efficient models for rapid simulation and broader use.
• Support model integration with virtual plant environments and cloud workflows.
• Create reusable model interfaces, parameterization, and validation across variants.
• Develop model predictive control strategies for coupled thermal subsystems.
• Evaluate performance across drive cycles, conditions, and objectives.
• Collaborate with controls, software, calibration, and validation teams.
• Contribute to AI-enabled modeling and publish technical work when fitting.
