Job summary

Carewest is seeking a Therapy Assistant to deliver therapeutic programming and rehabilitation support for adults with complex mental health needs at Bridgeland Riverside Care Centre in Calgary. You will collaborate with Physical and Occupational Therapists to implement prescribed exercises, gait training, functional activities, and daily living tasks.

The role emphasizes person-centred, trauma-informed care and harm reduction approaches, promoting client choice, autonomy, and a safe therapeutic

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Therapy Assistant program is required. Relevant equivalent training or experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of therapeutic interventions, rehabilitation principles, functional mobility and activities of daily living.
• Ability to implement therapeutic programs and interventions under the direction of a Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist.
• Demonstrated ability to establish therapeutic and professional relationships with clients experiencing complex physical, cognitive, behavioural and mental health challenges.
• Experience using computers and electronic documentation systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic programming and rehabilitation support to clients within a Complex Mental Health setting.
• Observe, document and report changes in client condition and progress toward goals.
• Communicate information to supervising therapists and care team; promote client autonomy and safety.
